MENSCHENTRACKS / HUMANTRACKS

MENSCHENTRACKS / HUMANTRACKS examines the loss and value of privacy in the networked present. The video installation shows 42 simultaneously presented sequences from hacked smartphones whose cameras and microphones were remotely activated.

MENSCHENTRACKS / HUMANTRACKS shows 42 video sequences from hacked smartphones. Cameras and microphones were remotely activated; the private device becomes a surveillance tool.

The video installation makes visible what remains invisible in everyday life: the possibility that proximity, voice, movement and private space can be technically read out. The smartphone, a constant companion of the body, appears as an interface between intimacy and control.

The work asks about the loss and value of privacy in the networked present. It presents surveillance not as an abstract system, but as a concrete visual experience: 42 foreign fragments, present simultaneously, between proximity, violation and public visibility.
