A photographic series about the illusion of self-presentation and the ways social media construct and define identity.
The Pantera Series examines the illusion of self-presentation. In front of the camera, a seemingly controlled figure takes shape from codes of masculinity, status and cinematic pose. On social media, this image becomes a claim to identity: selection, staging and repetition determine how a person is meant to be seen and how that person begins to understand the self. The series takes a critical view of platform logic, which links visibility to self-worth and transforms identity into an image designed to circulate and be evaluated. The supposed autonomy of self-presentation reveals itself as adaptation to expectation, attention and algorithmic order.
